Privacy Policy

ReadBack is a Chrome extension that helps agency operators capture search activity observed in their own ChatGPT conversations and turn it into local Answer Briefs.

Single purpose

ReadBack observes conversation data in the operator’s active chatgpt.com tab after an explicit Capture action. It uses that data only to identify observed search queries, citations, and related evidence and to produce local content-planning materials.

How Capture works

  1. You finish a ChatGPT answer in your own logged-in session.
  2. You click Capture in ReadBack.
  3. ReadBack visibly reloads the selected ChatGPT conversation.
  4. During that pending Capture, ReadBack observes only the matching conversation response loaded by ChatGPT.
  5. The resulting capture and Answer Brief are stored locally in your browser.
No background capture. While Capture is inactive, ReadBack does not clone, read, parse, or store ChatGPT conversation response bodies.

Data ReadBack handles

Storage and retention

Product data is stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB and Chrome local storage. Short-lived pending Capture state is stored in chrome.storage.session and cleared after success, timeout, or expiry.

Raw conversation JSON is retained only when ReadBack detects parser or schema drift so that the capture can be recovered. You can delete clients, captures, and reports from ReadBack. Uninstalling the extension removes its local extension storage.

Data sharing

ReadBack does not:

Chrome permissions

ReadBack does not request access to all websites, cookies, chrome.scripting, webRequest, or the Chrome debugger.

Limited Use

The use of information received from Google APIs and Chrome extension APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy , including the Limited Use requirements. ReadBack uses accessed data only to provide its disclosed local Capture and Answer Brief features.

Changes to this policy

If ReadBack’s data-handling practices change, this policy and the extension’s in-product disclosures will be updated before the changed behavior is introduced.
